CSL has provided hospitality, convention and visitor industry consulting services to the Greater Kansas City CVB and the City of Kansas City for several years. Currently, CSL is conducting a feasibility study regarding the City's market for hotel rooms within the downtown loop. The results of this study will assist the City in evaluating key supply, demand, economic, market, site, financial, program, cost and various other planning aspects for future hotel development.

Additionally in recent years, CSL prepared analysis of short and long-range facility needs for the Kansas City Convention Center (formerly Bartle Hall Convention Complex), including the research that supported the just-completed improvements to meeting space and the development of the new ballroom. Our past research also included estimates of the market and financial potential for expansion of exhibit space. In addition, CSL analyzed the need for added hotel inventory in Kansas City to support any future large-scale expansion of Bartle Hall. This analysis included assessment of existing hotel inventory, room block commitability for convention and trade events, average room rates and related characteristics.

CSL also conducted the market, financial and room night impact analysis for the development of event space at Crown Center. Our research culminated in the development of the highly successful 52,000-square foot Crown Center event space.

In 2000, CSL performed an expansion feasibility study for event facilities in Kansas City. Key components of the analysis included detailed market surveys of past, existing and potential convention center users, historical utilization analysis, benchmarking analysis of competitive and comparable facilities, industry trend analysis, analysis of the top 25 convention center markets in the United States, building program analysis, financial operations analysis, economic impact analysis and funding alternatives analysis.
